The following post is over on Handbaggery, but the more I read it the more it makes me laugh. It's about people who don't realize that most Louis Vuitton bags aren't leather...they're made out of treated canvas.
Any Fashionista worth her subscription to Vogue knows this. Except, it seems, people vying to win bagaholic contests on YouTube.
Happy Friday!

People (mostly men) sometimes ask me why I spend so much time working on a blog about handbags. I try to explain that handbags are, to some women, like religion. They're an obsession or maybe they fill some sort of emotional void in their lives. (Better bags than burgers, I always say.)
All over YouTube there are videos of women talking about their collection of bags. Most are entries for a contest BagBorroworSteal ran a few months ago when they were looking for America's ultimate bagaholic.
This is video is unintentionally funny, especially when the young woman says that the leather on her Louis Vuitton bag is "to die for." Um, honey...it's not leather. It's treated canvas. Everyone knows this. And that's why she's not America's ultimate bagaholic. She also almost said that she was America's Next Top Model. Ha.

So are they all not made of leather? What about the checkered ones? I'm vegan and living in Japan and so many people in the Tokyo area have Louis bags and I want one, too.

The bag is canvas, but the trim is leather.
