I'm a Fall Out Boy Convert!!
A few weeks ago Jen A. suggested that we all go see Fall Out Boy. I knew their music from the radio and the MTV, but the the live show at Jones Beach sounded like a good time, if only to get out of the house. On Tuesday, Jen A., Erin C., and I headed out to Long Island for an emo adventure.
After a pleasant train ride, we had to switch to a bus in a town called Freeport and bus it over to Jones Beach. Apparently this is common practice.
The sun was setting, the light was insane, and the following pictures were taken. If we were musicians, these could easily have been album covers.
Erin's album cover. Her record would be called I Loathe My Privleged, Suburban Upbringing. It would be emo.
Jen's album cover. It would be called Susanna Hoff's Doppleganger
And Me. My record would be called Fish Worship. Is It Wrong?
Eventually we got on the bus and headed out to stadium. Our driver seemed to think that he was auditioning for Speed: 3, judging by how fast he was going. Wew were all convinced we were going to crash into the marshes.
As expected, the show was crawling with pre-nose job adolescents. Worse, Jones Beach doesn't serve alcohol because it's some sort of nature preserve. That said, we funneled our energy into dinner choices. Once we found our seats, we were the old ladies sitting and eating while all the kids around us rocked out to bands such as The Academy Is...and Plush-44. The openers were actually all quite good.
Our seats were quite good. Thanks, Jen!
Jones Beach is pretty. Always worth the trip.
Eventually the sun set and it became clear that FOB was going to come out soon.
I'll spare you the the play-by-play of the show, but suffice it to say it was awesome. The music was awesome, there were pyrotechnics (!!), and I'm starting to understand why everyone think Pete Wentz is such a fox.
The best part of the evening was when Pete Wentz encouraged everyone to start there own mini-mosh pit in their seat. The second Erin heard the phrase "most pit" she grabbed her purse. Aces.
Jen, who was looooovin' the show.
At the end of the night we all piled back on the N88 bus and eventually back to NYC. Here is Jen, taking one last foray at being emo.
